Top 3 Reasons Women Should Be Weightlifting

The majority of women are put off from weighlifting because they’re afraid to get ‘big and bulky’ when the reality is that lifting weights will provide you a lot of health benefits as well as social- and self-protection benefits. In this blogpost you can see the top 3 health benefits and the social benefits.

I want to talk very briefly about the topic of women and weightlifting. I am going to make more articles and videos on this topic so people can show this to the women in their lives and the women they care about. Wether it’s girlfriends, wives, mothers, daughters, the people who you actually want to live and be healthy.

Why Women Are Put Off From Weightlifting

A lot of female fitness rolemodels put off the majority of women from weightlifting because of the muscularity while claiming they didn’t use exogenous male hormones. Most women do not want to look like that.

The reality is however that most women are not going to get big and bulky from lifting weights. They’re going to get big and bulky from eating too many cupcakes.

Weightlifting will actually help you lose weight and get smaller, even if you stay at the same bodyweight. The size of their arms, legs and waistline will shrink as a result of weightlifting if they don’t gain any weight. Just due to recomposition and muscle tissue being more dense than fat tissue.

The Health Benefits:

The overall health benefits really need to be addressed because a lot of the problems with women that they are likely to suffer from, more so than men, can be exacerbated by not lifting weights and can be dramatically improved by lifting weights.

1. Reversing Ostioperosis

We know that weightlifting can hold off ostioperosis. Sometimes indefinitely or at the very least set it back a decade (10years).

Women are far more prone to ostioperosis and bone demineralization than men, particularly post menopausal. In fact, when they reach menopausal it tends to hit them very rapidly. Weightlifting can reverse that.

2. Survival of Cancer

We know that people who lift weights regularly, atleast two times a week, get cancer at 50% of the rate from the general population. When they do get cancer their survival rate is twice as high.

So effectively, that is going to give you a 75% higher chance of survival cancer in general.

3. Diabetes and Cardiovascular Function

Also it reduces diabetes rates by up to 70% and it improves your overall cardiovascular function. So you’re less likely to have issues related to heart attacks and strokes.

Overall, everyone should be weightlifting but particularly women for those reasons and it’s mainly because they are so pushed away from it socially while it is something that needs to be pushed towards them more.

Social- and Self-Protection Factors

You have all these health benefits to consider for women and then you have other factors to consider, social- and self-protection factors.

One of the things that has been pointed out is that women that carry themselves with poor posture are the women that are going to be singled out by sexual ‘predators’ and become victims. What they generally do is that those sort of men are looking for the weakest women they can find.

Poor posture including not standing back on your heels, not standing up straight and not seeming to have confidence or physical strength.

Now, what you want to have is good posture. Good posture including standing up straight and back on your heels with your shoulders back.

This is the sort of posture you’re going to get from lifting fairly heavy free weights. Those are the women that statistically, when this has been studied, are very unlikely to pick or even try to mess with.

So, there are benefits outside of your immediate health.

Take-Home Message:

  • Most women are not going to get big and bulky from lifting weights.
  • Weightlifting can hold off ostioperosis indefinitely.
  • Weightlifting is going to give you a 75% higher chance of surviving cancer.
  • Weightlifting reduces diabetes rates by up to 70% and it improves your overall cardiovascular function.
  • Weightlifting will reduce the chance of you becoming victimized
